Maybe I am dragging my feet in jumping on the BuddyPress addition to my blogs because at this time I am not sure that my blog needs BuddyPress. However there are a lot of blogs out there with readers in the thousands. Perhaps if you are not ready to use it on your blog, there are blogs that you will want to participate more socially with by using the BuddyPress features.
What determines whether or not you want to install BuddyPress to your blog?
I think it would be great to be a tester for it. However reality hits me in the face. If I do not have the blog readership at this point in time, how would I ever get people to start interacting socially on my blog.
I believe that you do not have to activate all the features. What features are there? It seems that there are several. I have found this information on http://buddypress.org/about. If you are ready for more interaction on your blog, you should visit there and join the community.
It has been months now that BuddyPress has been in testing and there are a lot of comments. You can spend a lot of time learning, or if you are tempted to download BuddyPress, like I am, you can learn by doing.
Back to the features discussion. Imagine all this on your blog:
These are a few of the features and more are going to be added. I can see how this is going to be an incredible addition to member site blogs, and blogs for specific niches and groups.
As I learn more about BuddyPress I will add to this blog. It reminds me of Google Friend Connect in certain ways, only it takes Google Friend Connect to a higher degree of activitiy. It is going to be more than just following friends across multiple blogs. Congratulations to the developers of BuddyPress.

I’ve wondered whether or not BuddyPress would be something I’d put on my niche poetry blog. With 4,000 monthly visitors (and growing), I thought I’d try it. With the features that you have listed here I just may give it a go. So you can activate the features you want now and add the others on later?
If you read the post after this it seems that Buddy Press is something for more than individual blog owners, but rather a group of blog owners. Member site blogs were mentioned. I am not sure how the individual will be able to interact with Buddy Press unless they create an account where a user has it set up.
With 4,000 readers then you might contact WordPress and see if you can expand by using a Buddy Press installation. Let me know what happens should you decide to use it.
