When you think of people on the internet who you follow, and you are asked why you follow them, how many reasons can you give? Perhaps someone does not start out as your mentor, but they evolve into it by always giving you some golden nugget that helps you in your business. Perhaps you did not start out to be considered an internet coach, or mentor, but due to the quality of your posts, you are considered one by your loyal readers.
We should all strive to be a positive influence on those who read our blogs, or our articles, subscribe to our newsletters, and even part with their hard earned dollars for our products and/or services. Once you are selling a product or a service on the internet, even though it is not your product or service, do you feel you have a responsibility to the people who purchase it?
This is definitely something to concern yourself with if you are going to grow into the position of having credibility online. Credibility equals good business on the internet and will turn that business owner into a person who has valued content, and can offer value to his or her readers.
I have a handful of people that I follow, and read their emails, and look at their products. Even though I do not pay for coaching with them I consider what they say in their emails to be of value. They would never come out and say that they are an internet coach if you ask them.
How many people do you get email from where they are not just introducing product after product, but they actually want you to succeed?
How many people are using the products that they are trying to sell you as being the next best thing to your success?
How many of these people can you reply to and get a response from? That would be the first step in determining credibility. I know some people make it difficult due to the volume of mail that they receive, and I know for people just starting out they are afraid of all the spam mail they will get.
There has to be a way to contact people on the net. Maybe if email is not working for them, they have an active blog and reply to your comments. I feel that definitely adds credibility.
What do you look for when you are seeking out credibly people to conduct business with on the internet?

Dan it is great to find another person who takes personal interest in their subscribers. Writing a personal newsletter is something that few people master in my opinion. I hardly ever send comments other than blog updates to my list of subscribers. However when you have your own product or service staying in contact is more important. When the product gets updated your buyers should hear from you.
Sometimes we get caught between all the ways we have to communicate. Most people get so much email that they can miss an important announcement.
Getting subscribers to an RSS feed is a great way to keep in contact. I think I feel another blog topic in the making.
Thanks for your kind comments Dan.
Rocque,
I think the association with those we like is also what helps us to learn. I know I have met quite a few people within Internet Marketing but only a few I chose to learn from.
Alex finding the right people to learn with is one thing that can take time, too. Those of us who have found you are very appreciative. There are a few others out there, but several do not take the personal interest that I value.
Great post. I agree with you and we should treat our reader like the same way we want. After started my online journey I meet few successful person and I am glad to meet them. One such a great man is Alex. I never thought I will meet such helpful person online as there are so many scam.

Hey Rocque,
I love reading your posts. You speak from the heart and it’s clear that you’re one of those people we should follow. I’ve been online for awhile now and it’s funny how you gravitate to people that are like minded – even online. It takes time to find true “mentors” because of all the noise out there but over time the cream does rise to the top. Chandan makes a good point – treat others as you want to be treated.
Great post as always

Hi Rocque,
This is so true. The IM world is filled with people you can subscribe too… but it’s who you want to “learn” from. There are a few.
Since I’ve been back to blogging, I’ve signed up for a few reports and information packets here and there ~ honestly? I have had to unsubscribe to many of them within a few days. They just start spamming my inbox.
That tells me right away they have no interest in me or my blog. They just want to get a sale (and BTW – that isn’t the way to do it).
I’ve added you to my reader… I will enjoy following your blog as well!
Cheers,
Heather

Hello Heather,
I am following you on Google Friend Connect, too. I know that we have a common friend in Chris Lang. He is someone who tells it like it is. I know he does not fill your inbox with buy this and buy that emails one right after the other, but he gives so much information on his blog and wherever he is posting around the net that it is always a good read. Even when you might not fully agree with him, you do learn something.
I was an early Chris Lang follower because he went out of his way to help me learn the ins and outs of Digg. From there I could see what it took to have success on Digg, and soon after Google got involved with Google Reader and Google Friend connect. The future looks really exciting.
