There's no way you can stay away from negative people. I am also having trouble staying positive. Think and Grow Rich is a must read book. Thanks for sharing.

You are absolutely right! It is very difficult to be positive when there are so many negative minded people surrounding you. Currently I am facing this problem heavily. So many people lough at me because I started my online activities. Keep on posting these types of post. Though there are so many negative minded people out there, some are also there like you who inspired others. Thanks a lot Rocque.

It seems that leadership is more than what several people bargain for when they step into that sort of position. If someone becomes a leader for the fame, glory, and money, they are soon disillusioned (if they are doing it right). If you can not be a good servant then being a leader will almost be impossible.

Think of the good leaders you have known in your life. Did they spend time with you, and listen to your needs and problem solve with you, or were they just a boss?
The good leaders know how to serve their followers. I work in education where some of the leaders have never experienced life outside of the educational institution.

By the time they become a leader, they are so ingrained in the teacher bully mentality that several of them have (education by threat tactics....maybe another series..) the necessary skills to lead their peers, and treat them as they would students. Teachers can use the same training, too. Most students are wise to the limitations that teachers have in the "education by threat" area. They know what it takes to get suspended and that is a whole lot. However they know how to work the system.

The teachers, on the other hand, have to find out what it takes to stay employed, and that sometimes means working for the "boss" instead of the leader. Even tenured teachers face layoffs now with the current surplus of teachers in some states and the budget cuts. Teachers who work in non-union, nontenured positions, or people in other employed areas can probably relate to this.

That is why everyone should have a Plan B for their life and see another skill ( I recommend self employment) to get them through or to even change a career.

I think everyone who aspires to be a leader should have a mandatory reading of Think and Grow Rich. It would give the leaders a new perspective on the staff as a mastermind group working together for a common goal.

I agree with those who are picking up Think and Grow Rich again and rereading it. Excellent book, and each time you read it you pick up something new. Perhaps as you develop you become more open to things you had just glossed over the last time you read the book.

Rocque,

This book I think is an absolute MUST READ. Just because info is dated - doesn't mean its old. Human nature doesn't change that much and this book is a direct proof

Napoleon Hill was a very wise man - and wise information never dates or goes out of fashion. This is certainly true of 'Think and Grow Rich'. I think it was very appropriate for you to include it in your series!

Hello Luca,
Yes I am on Twitter and can be followed at <a href="http://www.twitter.com/rocquesbiz" target="blank" rel="nofollow">Rocquesbiz on Twitter</a>
I agree with #6, too. I always value the money people spend when they either buy a book from me, or spend an hour of their day listening to my coaching class on blogs.
Therefore I spend a lot of time preparing my class, and staying current with what is new in blogging.
The internet does not stand still as we all know. We have to be aware of the trends and when we are seeking out coaches we need to find coaches who are hands on with their involvement in what they coach.
Thanks for all of your kind comments.

I find that it's sometimes difficult to stay away from negative people. You'll always find someone in your circle of friends and business associates that will always find that the cup is half empty instead of half full. It's how we deal with these negative vibes that matters. I try not to get involved in their negativity - change the subject or just walk away for awhile.
I enjoy reading your blog as it always has a great message.
I love #6 "THE HABIT OF DOING MORE THAN PAID FOR" I think you'll find that the best Mentors/Coaches out there love to give more that expected.

p.s. are you on twiiter - you can follow me at http://www.twitter.com/rsonline
